Title
Designed by Philadelphia architect Thomas S. Stewart in 1846, and altered in 1939, the Egyptian Building is one of the most significant examples of exotic revival architecture in the country. Originally constructed to house the medical department of Hampden-Sydney College, it became the Medical College of Virginia in 1893 and remains their trademark to this day. After conducting an in-depth exterior condition assessment, the design team delicately restored the exterior of the building, breathing new life to this National Historic Landmark.
