National Museum of Natural History Historic Structure Report

Commonwealth Architects compiled a Historic Structure Report (HSR) for the Smithsonian Institute’s National Museum of Natural History in support of the Comprehensive Facility Development Plan currently under development. The completed HSR will serve as a guide to the building’s architectural features and historic character as the future development of the site is planned. Our approach to this project was two-fold, first documenting and compiling the existing historic research material related to the property, and second developing a Historic Preservation Plan to address the building history, archaeological evaluation, existing conditions assessment and future treatment and use of the resource.
