Anthem Southeast Headquarters

Commonwealth Architects directed the team that developed and implemented the master plan for Anthem’s new Southeast corporate campus. Conducted in two phases, the first consisted of the design and construction of a new, five-story, 280,000 square-foot building, while the second involved the complete rehabilitation of the 265,000 square-foot, existing headquarters building. To encourage interaction between employees and building users, escalators were chosen over elevators, while natural daylighting allows for a more open feel throughout the building. Office space was planned in coordination with each of the firm’s departments, and special spaces such as the cafeteria, fitness room and small group conference rooms were added to meet the client’s needs.
