Throughout the month of April, it's your chance to do some spring cleaning and get rid of unwanted computer and other electronic equipment in an environmentally friendly way. Drop by our office in Shockoe Slip and bring your old computer monitors, hard drives, printers, keyboards and other used electronics.
Saving the planet one computer at a time
We are working with ESI, our technology consultants, to recycle your used electronics. The proper handling and disposal of obsolete equipment poses one of the largest environmental issues of our time. Mountains of old electronics comprised of plastic, metal and hazardous materials such as lead and cadmium continue to grow. ESI recycles the equipment, destroys all data by shredding media, and recycles the e-scrap.
Give wireless phones and give hope
April will also be the time to recycle used cell phones and chargers. Commonwealth Architects will donate your phone to Verizon's HopeLine, a program that turns used cell phones into support for domestic violence victims and survivors. Make a difference in these lives! Wireless phones and technology can serve as a vital link. They give victims a way to call for emergency or support services in a time of crisis or as a reliable, safe connection as survivors rebuild their lives.
