Lee Shadbolt Given AIA Richmond's Highest Individual Award

April 22, 2011

Lee Shadbolt, AIA, was awarded the Marcellus Wright Jr. Award by the American Institute of Architects Richmond Chapter at its 2011 Annual Design Awards event held on April 15.

Shadbolt, a principal at Commonwealth Architects, was honored with the award for his service to the profession. Since 2004, he has served as AIA Richmond's Alice Lehmen Sunday Prize Chair, as a Board Member from 1993-2004 and as Chapter President in 2001.

This is considered the Chapter's highest individual award. It is given in honor of one of the Chapter's founding members, Marcellus Wright Jr. by the Chapter Board, based on nominations by the Honors Committee, to a long time Chapter member who has demonstrated continuous service to the profession through their work. This award is intended to provide public recognition to a distinguished member of the Chapter.

Commonwealth Architects was a key sponsor for the awards event held at Movieland at Boulevard Square, a Commonwealth Architects' rehabilitation project of a former locomotive manufacturing warehouse into a cinema complex for Bow Tie Partners.
