John Marshall Hotel Copyright Infringement Case Settled

September 10, 2010

Robert S. Mills, President of Commonwealth Architects, and Dan Joy, Principal of Rule Joy Trammel + Rubio, LLC, announced today that litigation over the development of architectural plans for the renovation of the John Marshall Hotel has been settled.

The terms of the settlement include payment of a confidential sum by Rule Joy to Commonwealth Architects and the acknowledgement of Commonwealth Architects' contribution of significant design ideas to the project.

Under the agreement, Rule Joy agrees that Commonwealth Architects performed those services required by their agreement with John Marshall Building, LLC, the project developer, and that Commonwealth Architects may claim credit for its own design of the John Marshall Hotel. They further agree that Commonwealth Architects may use its images of such design and may refer to its contribution to the project in its marketing materials and portfolio. Rule Joy will continue to perform services as architect of record.
