Chosen as "the project of the year" for its role as a spark for redevelopment along the Boulevard, Movieland has brought first run movies back to the City of Richmond. Commonwealth Architects transformed a 19th century locomotive manufacturing warehouse built in 1887 into Bow Tie Cinema's Movieland at Boulevard Square, a 17 theater movie complex. In addition, the site's unique rail history was incorporated into the design of the building and of the landscape, honoring a piece of the city's history and architectural heritage.

Four other Commonwealth Architects' projects, from historic rehabilitation to new construction, earned top honors for outstanding commercial real estate projects in Metropolitan Richmond at the annual awards event, which was held at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden.
