Commonwealth Architects to have Strong Presence at Architecture Exchange East
November 6, 2008 | Richmond, VA
With several members of its staff speaking at this year’s Architecture Exchange East, Commonwealth Architects will be well represented at the annual conference and expo, held November 12-14 at the Greater Richmond Convention Center.
Associate and architectural historian, Bryan Clark Green, along with Trey Tyler, director of the 3D visualization studio Proviz, will be speaking on the use of visualization in the interpretation of historic buildings. Titled “Seeing is Believing: 3D Visualization in Historic Preservation & Rehabilitation,” the program will use several examples to show how 3D visualization can allow designers and clients to not only create more accurate restorations, but afford new and creative ways to interpret historic structures.
In addition, Ken Pope, AIA, and Jake Wiseman, AIA, will be conducting a tour of the adaptive reuse of the former Miller & Rhoads Department Store in downtown Richmond. Once a major shopping destination for Richmond, the project will transform the circa 1888 building into a premier mixed-use development, featuring residential space, a Hilton Hotel, retail, dining and common areas for public functions.
Architecture Exchange East is an educational event and expo featuring over 70 educational sessions and workshops and more than 150 vendors. ArchEx brings architects, educators, materials suppliers, manufacturers, and other design professionals and support staff together to explore industry best practices and the emergence of new technologies, techniques and materials.
