Recognized for our adaptive reuse of large-scale historic structures such as The Chamberlin Hotel in Hampton, and Miller & Rhoads Department Store in Richmond, we have also built a strong portfolio of academic projects across the state of Virginia. Our architects have worked on the campuses of Virginia Tech, Virginia Commonwealth University, The University of Virginia, Virginia Military Institute, Mary Washington, William & Mary, Virginia State University and are under term contracts with others, including the Virginia Community College System.

We have finished many successful projects for the state’s Department of General Services, as well as municipalities around the Commonwealth. Our Interiors department focuses on both new and renovated corporate facilities. We currently provide architectural tenant services to several commercial real estate brokers and managers in the Richmond, Charlottesville, and Tidewater markets. We have completed over 3,000,000 combined square feet of operational work environments.

Additionally, Commonwealth has a team of designers adept at the design of new multi-family residential complexes, large commercial facilities and new corporate headquarter office buildings.

The diversity of our practice enables us to assemble project teams with the expertise required for each new project. We believe that our success results directly from our commitment to maintaining strong, long-lasting relationships with our clients.
